Kars Workshop Weekend

Debbie and Fiona spent an enjoyable but bust weekend in Amsterdam the end of September attending a retailers day held by our suppliers Kars. They were let loose in a massive warehouse where they shopped till they dropped, most of these items are now in stock. It was nice to see all the new products which will be available in the next few months but the high light of the trip for Deb was a 3 hour workshop with Tim Holtz.

He is a very clever, Nice and Funny man and Debbie hopes to introduce some of the techniques she learnt into some of the classes over the coming months. We now stock some of his distress ink pads, alcohol inks blending tools and Sizzix dies, embossing folders and Vagabond machine and we hope to increase the range.

I have been playing with my Magnolia stamps again and have done a few Christmas cards I hope you like them

I have used magnolia stamp Santa from the Santa Collection he is so lovely I have coloured him with Pro markers then this hat and coat was covered in red Fun Flock for a fury texture Then the White trim on the hat and coat was done with Aleene’s True snow, its like a paste so I applied it with a cocktail stick this is also brilliant on tree and winter scene to cards it give it a very authentic look and it lasts ages. I added a pom pom to his hat and accented the present with a gold gel pen.

I love layering different cards with texture and colour I start with a 8x8 white base card and then this brilliant woven look red paper, then another layer of standard white card and then Kanban red and white stripe card with the great glitter stripe. The Santa image was stamped on standard white card and layered on to some red Bazzil card this was raised from the background with foam pads.

I finished the card off with white fabric covered brads.

I have used Silent Night Tilda from the So Jolly Collection coloured with pro markers coat trim is done in crystal glitter and the swirls with glitter sakura pens.

Mounted on to a 8x8 white card with Aquamarine Stardream Metalic card and snowflake background paper Tilda is stamped on white card and the mounted on pink mirror foil card the corners were then rounded. The bottom is edged in a pearl ribbon. The accent strip is aquamarine with a strip of the pink foil which was accented with small pom poms and a strip and the snowflake background which I have covered in glossy accents.

I stamped the Tilda stamp twice once on the backing card and the second one I coloured in and cut out and mounted on the background with foam pads.

Finished with a Merry Christmas Peel off and glittered a snowflake

Heartbreaker Edwin from the Raising the Ceiling Collection sitting on Wrapped presents from the So Jolly collection coloured with Pro Markers wings coloured with glitter Gelly Roll Sakura pens (TOP TIP if you don’t want Edwin to have wings cut him out and cut off the wings) accented with Sakura Gelly Roll glaze pens.

I have cut a Scallop Circle Neastabilities (other shapes can be used) out of Brown glitter card and layered a Buff coloured circle then I have drew Faux stitching around the edge of the circle Edwin the sits on the presents.

I have layered embellished with ribbon tabs, bow and snowflakes cut on the CuttleBug.

Sorry for the Long Break….

Lot’s to tell you……

It’s been a while since my last post and I have a Lot to Tell you. First of all there was our in store demo on Saturday 27th Feb with Sharron using Inkadinkado stamps and Bo Bunny papers. We had quite a lot of interest and was a great day here are some of the cards Sharron did on the day.

We were also featured in The March issue of Cardmaking and Papercraft as a stockist. So we have to say a BIG THANK YOU to Dulcie Jackson as she named us a Stockist of the Inkadinkado stamp Dot Flourishes. People went mad for her brilliant cards and we actually sold about 50 stamps and we are still being asked for them ,if you like a set they will be back in stock soon.

Sarah’s style class is pretty much me letting you know what I’m into at the moment you should know that I’m loving background papers and distressing I realise that it’s not everyone cup of tea so it is toned down for ya’ll. (If you want to see what I get up to check out My Blog ) It’s a bit of a lottery coming to one of my classes as you never know what your gonna get so I just hope that it doesn't Disappoint. So here’s what we got up to this time.

Happy New Year!!

I’m sorry I know it’s late but Happy New Year to all you Blog Reader’s out there I also have to apologise for the lack of posts we had quite a busy Christmas so trying to find time to post was a bit difficult, But one of my New Year resolutions is to keep you more up to date with what’s happening starting with this news.

We will no be doing any Exhibitions this year (that includes our local NEC) we have decided to take a little break and do a few more events at the shop. Talking of the shop we have our new list of workshops for January to April and with no shows to do there will be more classes so why not treat yourself to a day out and come on one of our courses.

My Kanban Class

Wanna see what we got up to on Saturday’s Kanban class then continue reading…. If not sorry you may find this boring!!

So I like to do at least one thing that is different on my classes so while I was searching for inspiration I came across and unusual way of folding a card Tri-Shutter I was automatically inspired and decided to incorporate this design with the Kanban products. We used Dress-up Pink Dress-up Ruby Foiled Perfume Scroll Brown and Foiled Perfume Scroll Pink.

The base card instructions are

Step 1- Start with a piece of card 5.5”x12” Lay horizontally and score at 2”, 4”, 8” and 10”. Step 2 – Turn the card so it is now vertical and 1.5” from the edge Cut between the score marks 2” and 10” repeat this on the other side. then fold the card as pictured and decorate.

The next car we did was using the concept card pack High Seas and we made 3 cards from one pack.

The next was also a concept card pack from the new A5 size range Morris we made 2 cards from this one pack.

And finally we made this card using Kanban Glittered card with die cuts Birthday

Mega Love

Scrapbooking is getting more popular and mixing card making and scrapbooking is a great way to start off if you have never tried it.

Word Albums are great for this you can say what you would in a insert but with the added pictures which give the card/album that personal and unique touch. Here is and example of on that Debbie did for a couple to give to their daughter as a wedding card. She used Colour My World -More than words Mega Love album

Sarah’s Style Class 2

Another Sarah’s style class some people would assume that we would do the same cards but you would be wrong I have some totally new ideas for you so here we go.

Proving that young people can do vintage too we start with this card using Lace and ribbons which have been layered over the top of one another and finished with paper roses. This is an easy card for you to put your own twist on, just go and have a rummage in you sewing box and see what treasures you can find.

Now for something a little different a DL card in 3 parts. I used Bo Bunny Abby Road paper Dot, Stripe and Vine NEW Flora Doodles flowers and Doodlebug simply sweet letters. I have to make a confession about this card though as the front of the card is cut into three although the card does stand up it bends a little so the ladies on the class and I decided that for a more stable card you should stick the centre piece down, so that is what I did.

As the Class is Sarah’s Style we are doing the kind of things that I am into at the moment and If you have seen My Blog recently you will know that I’m into Stamping in a big way so our next card is a simple stamp and colour Cup cake card and using SEI Bridgeport – Harbour View Background Paper.

Extra Special Cards class

Debbie held an Extra Special Cards class on Thursday 25th on this class we were making special cards which would be suitable for Family and close friends, cards which take a bit more time to make and which may cost a little more but for these people you don’t mind.

The first was using Joanna Sheen CD Elegant Fans

This next card was done using Dufex Multi use Cards

and Buzz craft Fairy Doodles

the Next card was made using some fancy lace and flowers cut from a Sizzix machine.

and the final pop up gate fold card was made using Joanna Sheen CD Eastern Treasures

Sarah’s Style Class

For those of you who don’t/can’t come to our classes here is what we did . The class is Sarah’s style which means I bring my ideas and the things I’m doing most at the moment and share them with you.

I’m really into stamping and Distressing at the moment so I have incorporated that into my cards this time using background papers, Vellum and card stock.

The first was using Inkadinkado Morphic Birds stamped onto white hammer card we distressed and inked the edges mounted on ripped pale blue vellum which was then mounted on blue flowered background paper which was also distressed and inked finally we mounted onto a 8x8 white linen card, for the flower we tore scraps of the paper and vellum that we used into circles and fixed with a brad.

The second card we did was a simple stamped card using Inkadinkado Chandeliers and Staz-on ink pad onto white board which was mounted to black card onto Foil Pink card. It was finished with 3 pink sticky gems and using a fine line pen we put black dots around the edge of the white card.

The third card we did was using Bo Bunny papers Abby Road Vine and Truffle. First using the Cricut machine and cartridge Home Accents we cut a large flower (about 5”) we cut the Vine paper slightly smaller than the 5x7” blue card distressed and inked the edge we then cut the flower in half distressed the edge and stuck it to the vine paper. The using three corresponding card colours we made the banner each strip has been distressed and stuck together we finished by mounting to the card and adding flower cut out of the left over paper embellished with gem stones. (this card can be used either portrait or landscape)

The fourth and final card was also made using Bo Bunny papers this time it was Allissa Spunky and Look at Me. We completely covered the DL card with the stripped paper and cut a strip of the Look at Me paper the length of the DL and about 1.5” wide in two corresponding colour we cut out some flowers and mounted them on top of each other. We coloured in a peel off bird and cut it out and placed it in the middle of the flowers. We finished with a smaller flower with pink gem and Peel off greeting.

Inkadinkado Stamps

Stamping is making a real comeback and in particular Clear stamps, in our shop and on our Website we favour Clear stamps as they seem to be better value for money, and non more than Inkadinkado stamps they are really fabulous covering a range of classic and up to date ideas. B-C-E Stencillo Cards

If you ever fancy breaking from the norm and want a different and unusual shape card then B-C-E Stencillos are a great idea. Simply take a C5 card line the stencil against the crease of the card , trace the stencil and then cut out the shape ( the front and back of the card not cutting the crease) and there you are a shaped card for you to decorate however you like. Here are some of our samples.

More Flippin’ Kids Samples

Here are a couple more ideas for the Flippin’ Kids first is Little Monkey.

A stick has been glues in-between the decoupage so that she can swing around disguise with wood effect card made to look like a fence.

This Idea is done using Water Baby.

The bottom half of the aperture is covered with acetate edged at the top with glitter the bottom half of the card has been covered with cork to give a sand like effect. These two fab cards have been made by Debbie

Come along to one of our Craft Workshops to learn some new skills and techniques for your card making and scrapbooking.

MORNING CLASSES - £10.00 10am -12 noon
EXTENDED MORNING CLASSES - £15.00 10am -1.00pm
EVENING CLASSES - £10.00 7pm - 9pm
FULL DAY CLASSES - £25.00 10am - 3pm (includes lunch).

The above prices include all equipment and tuition, and a complimentary drink. All items made in the classes will be taken home with you all you need to do is give us a ring.

Like the Flippin Men , Flippin Women come in 20 different designs covering different hobbies and moods of women. Again the 3D sheets have a front and a back making them a very different kind of decoupage.

Flippin’ Men

Flippin’ Men are fantastic new 3D decoupage sheets from the company La Pashe who also make the Remember when series of decoupage. These sheets are different to other 3D sheets as they have a front and a back.

There are 20 design in the collection each displaying a different side to men I’m sure you will know someone in this series.

Hello and Welcome Our Blog

After over ten years in the crafting business we have gained a lot of ideas and experiences and we thought that we would share some of them with you.

We are mainly a craft shop and we also have website online (www.msacrafts.co.uk) as well as doing craft workshops and exhibitions shows. As you can imagine we are very busy people, but it is out of the popularity of our workshops and samples in the shop that we bring you to our blog, where we will share with you our ideas and creations as well as monthly challenges and special offers.

We will share with you what we do on our classes and let you know about exhibitions and show you our new samples.

You’ll have to bear with us this is all new for us and we will try to keep it as up to date as possible. We would love to hear your comments and and ideas and don’t forget to become a follower and keep checking back in.
